About the Department of Department of Biological Production

I would like to know what is unique about Department of Biological Production, and how it differs from other departments.

It is unique in that you can learn about agriculture comprehensively, from genetics to food production, management, and distribution. Another feature of the course is that it places emphasis on field experiment training in rice paddies, fields, cowsheds, etc.

Until the first semester of the third year, lectures and practical training will take place in groups and as a whole, rather than in the laboratory.Will you be taking both plant-related and animal-related courses by then? Or is it free choice?

There are only three compulsory subjects (subjects that must be taken): Principles of Biological Production, Experimental Fundamentals of Biological Production, and Field Experiment Practice I and II.Through these, students will learn about plants and animals broadly. Will you be able to enter the laboratory as you wish? Are there any restrictions on the number of people?

There is a limit to the number of students that can be assigned to each laboratory, so you may not necessarily be able to enroll in the laboratory you desire.

Where are the popular laboratories?

I didn't take a survey, so I don't know, but I think it changes from year to year. Although there are some laboratories that exceed capacity due to laboratory assignments, it does not seem that the same laboratory always exceeds capacity.

Is there a department that studies insect food?

Research on edible insects is being conducted in Department of Biological Production and the Department of Applied Biology.
Department of Biological Production and Department of Applied Biological Science are conducting tests at insect factories with the aim of implementing edible insects in society.
